Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was named general reporter by NBC News two year later. 1981 she started covering the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was appointed chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was an expert panelist on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist of the 1988 presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. She covered a wide range of notable stories, including arms control the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell went on numerous trips along with President Reagan to meetings with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
